Built the way the portfolios are run.
Independent and 100% employee-owned — aligned with the people we serve.
Founded at an industry’s inflection.
In 1999, the industry was scaling assets, strategies, and capabilities — often without asking how each would behave across economic and market regimes. CastleArk founder Jerry Castellini believed that kind of growth put asset gathering ahead of a client’s long‑term success — and that with scale came distance and complexity: layers between analyst and portfolio, between portfolio manager and client, between a firm’s outcomes and the outcomes of the people it served.
Since its foundation, the firm’s belief has been that client success is built on firm foundations in client alignment, team cohesion, and growth alongside our clients. An efficient, tight‑knit team — passionate about the work, humble about the markets — would foster the evolution a scaling industry needed.
Analyst‑PMs, close to the portfolio.
The CastleArk team believes in balancing an individual investment and the exposure it brings to the overall portfolio. Our senior PMs joined the firm to be analyst‑PMs: Close to the research, close to risk management, close to the client.
Proximity is a design choice. This puts us in the best position to act.
Our answer to complexity is simplicity and proximity.
Markets are endlessly complex, with crucial changes easy to miss. Our philosophy is built around identifying fundamental change and risk awareness. Our Total Fund team captures these at the asset class level. Our large cap team identifies this by free cash flow analysis. Our Small Cap team looks for inflections in a company’s growth rate. All of us are aware of the economic risks that our portfolios express at the holding level.
Aligned by structure — our aims match yours.
The firm is built the way the portfolios are run. We are 100% employee-owned and structurally aligned with clients — no outside shareholders, no competing interests, no one to serve but the people who hire us. Our size lets insight travel — what one team learns reaches every portfolio.
Markets often price the change we seek only after it is complete. We invest at the turn. We are behavioral investors — structured to resist the very biases that create our opportunities.
The Economic Factor Model
We believe that mitigating downside risk is critical to long‑term success. To accomplish this, we have built a proprietary approach that focuses on what type of economic risk a portfolio holds in real time. Our proprietary Economic Factor Model gives us insights at both the holding and total portfolio level so that adjustments can be made based on our intentions to carry these exposures.

Exposure monitoring
Quantify sensitivity to each macro driver versus the benchmark, with real-time stock-level factor betas.
Risk decomposition
Isolate macro-driven risk from stock-specific risk, so we know where the portfolio’s risk actually comes from.
Scenario analysis
Stress-test the portfolio across economic regimes before the regime arrives.
Since 1999, one premise.
And our client relationships bear this out. Our average relationship spans more than fifteen years, through a multitude of inflections the markets have offered. Unified teams, aligned with clients, in pursuit of shared success: these are the goals that brought us together at inception, and the same immersion runs through everything we do — our client relationships, our portfolios, our teams, our firm.
